Q What do I need to bring?
Comfortable clothing including a windproof jacket. Soft soled non-marking shoes for on the boat. Sunscreen, swim costume and swim towel. Any personal sporting equipment and your favourite music - CD's, MP3, ipod or phone.
Q Do I need any sailing experience?
No experience is needed as our skipper is very capable of handling the boat himself. If you wish, he is more than happy to teach you to sail, or if you are a capable sailor you can sail the boat and he'll make the coffee!
Q Can we charter the yacht without the skipper?
Our cruises are skippered charters only. Our local knowledge ensures you get the most from your holiday from finding the most magic anchorages, to harvesting a fresh New Zealand seafood dinner. Our skipper becomes your personal guide.
Q Are the boats suitable for young children?
All ages have enjoyed our yachts. The youngest so far has been 3 weeks and the oldest 90 years! Jamarh's large cockpit area makes a safe play-pen like area and large, flat decks allow safe movement around the boat. On all our vessels, children size life jackets are available. In fact children adapt very easily to the boats and parents find they sleep very well.
Q Do you do fishing charters?
Our fishing policy is to catch sufficient quantity to enjoy a few meals of the wonderfully delicious seafood our country has to offer. The main focus of our charters is to have a great day out on the water and catching fish is the bonus!
Q Is it possible the trip could be cancelled?
Our skippers are very experienced sailors with great local knowledge of the region and it's weather patterns. If it is considered that the cruise will be unsafe or not enjoyable we may cancel the trip. The good news is that Nelson region has a very stable, pleasant climate and it is very seldom necessary. If so, we will do our best to offer an alternative adventure or trip dates. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions.
Q When we charter a boat what extras are included in the price?
Our overnight cruising boats are set up for cruising and most things you need are onboard. As our skippered charter vessels are privately owned and used the standard of inventory is very comprehensive and all included in the charter price. Inventory varies with each vessel but usually includes fuel, bedding and linen, dinghy and outboard, fishing and snorkeling equipment, Barbeque, galley equipment and most things required for the smooth, safe and enjoyable boating. Our skippered charters obviously include the skipper who is more than happy to do sail training at no extra cost!
Q What extra costs may we be charged for?
Hire of specialize sporting equipment e.g. Dive gear and tanks.
If we have arranged to provide food or catering as an extra requested by you.
If you require the services of an extra crew, cook or hostess.
Q What are our options in regard to meals and catering?
