Huia - 20m Motor sailer
Huia is a traditional wooden ketch, designed by Athol Burns and craftsman built in the 1960s by the owner of a South Island timber company. Re-rigged with modern, electrically operated furling systems, she is now easily handled and well equipped to make the most of any wind.
Surveyed for 45 day passengers, Huia offers larger groups the chance to enjoy a Nelson harbour cruise or to experience the effortless power of a big sailing vessel.
Following a complete refit in 2003, Huia is also very well equipped for liveaboard cruising. Two ingeniously arranged forward cabins open to an enormous saloon and galley which leads up to a proper wheelhouse and down again to a large ensuite stateroom.
