Aorere 12m Sailing CatamaranFacts and Features Aorere is a 12 metre Sandlant design sailing catamaran, locally designed and built in Motueka, and testimony to the spirit of kiwi ingenuity. The name Aorere means flying cloud and is the original name for the waters of Tasman Bay. Aorere is also the name to one of the major rivers and valley in Golden Bay. Aorere is owned and co-built by local artist and skipper, Robyn Holmes, who has created a relaxed and homely environment. Paintings, carvings and harakeke (flax) art works blend to make the character of Aorere. She is the perfect platform for appreciating the beauty of the Abel Tasman National Park. Her shallow draft with retractable rudders and centreboards means she is great for exploring the Abel Tasman estuaries and shallow waters. Aorere can anchor close to the beach for easy access and you can just about go ashore and not get your feet wet!
There are 4 sleeping cabins. Two queen size cabins in the aft of each hull, a double cabin forward in the starboard hull and a single cabin forward of the bathroom in the port hull. That's total berths for 7 people. There is bathroom with toilet, shower and handbasin and pressurized hot and cold water.
